E-Minutes Wednesday 23 June 2010

8:00-8:15 Morning Social

Conversation was less animated this morning than usual—perhaps because of the proverbial “mid-week hump.” Morning treats included bagels, juice, and muffins. Chris decided to sum up each entry in these minutes with a haiku.

The foggy grey sky
Mirrors inner fogginess--
Coffee pot beckons.

8:15-9:45 & 10:00-11:15 Coaching and RWP

Mary Ann gave an inspiring motivational speech and introduced the upcoming Coaching session. Mary Ann explained the details of the Coaching process that each of us would participate in during the day. She explained who each participant would work with during our day and at what time such work would occur. Chris recorded minutes in tortured, groggy prose.

After the introduction and Coaching group designations, folks engaged in workshop coaching or worked independently until e-time.

Cloudy June Wednesday
Teachers talking and writing
Caffeine is awesome.

(Some haikus may not be as good as others)

11:15-11:30 eTime

eTime blended, for many of us, with our Coaching sessions; both were exceedingly productive for all involved. Folks researched sources for workshops and received much helpful advice from their fellows.

These twelve open minds,
A thousand new ideas--
Inspiration blooms.

11:30-12:30 Potluck

The potluck included a myriad plethora of dishes. Capallini, Thai tofu, salads of numerous sorts (beet, green with Humboldt grown tomato, etc.), a delicious bean dish, salsa and chips, and other culinary delights provided the group with sustenance for further intellectual pursuits. Over lunch one half of the room discussed travel plans, while the others seemed to discuss other topics, including family matters (not the show from the 90s with Urkel).

Greens, Squiggly noodles,
Something for everybody:
The luck of the pot

12:30-2:00 Response Groups

Potluck cleanup put us a little behind schedule, but at 12:38 we moved promptly into response groups. The precise nature of response group work varied, and included everything from individual research and drafting to group discussion.

Logy from potluck
Teachers are still hard at work
Dedication in action.

2:00-4:00 Workshop planning, RWR, Coaching, Anthology, Learning Log

Mary Ann et al distributed stipend forms and explained how to fill them out. We spent a few minutes filling out these forms.

Rachel distributed the schedule for the upcoming ISI two week session.

Mary Ann went over the schedule briefly.

Stefanie provided helpful answers about the commitments and shared responsibilities.

We received wise counsel not to feel overwhelmed, but, rather, to approach each step of the experience as it comes.

Weary but inspired
The teachers depart
Thank god it’s Wednesday!

The haikus make me very happy. And jealous.
